Product Review: African Extracts Rooibos Purifying Range

Hello my Beauties!

I know I’m always sharing makeup tutorials and makeup tips and tricks, but I really need to stress the importance of taking care of your skin as well.

I normally shy away from recommending skin care products because we are all so different and have different skin types. The last thing I want is to recommend a product that you might have a negative experience with.

There are thousands of skin care products out there, and you can spend thousands of Rands on luxury brands, or just a few hundred Rands at the pharmacy. The truth is, many inexpensive “drugstore brands” work just as well as the luxury brands, because they contain many of the same ingredients.

The secret? Find your glow with the right products for your skin type.

I recently participated in a Beauty Bulletin campaign to trial African Extracts Rooibos – Purifying range and I must say I’m pleased with the results. I’ve been using it for almost 2 weeks now and my skin absolutely loves it!

I have oily skin, and by oily skin I mean “mop my face halfway through the day and apply powder” kind of oiliness. I didn’t mind it because apparently this means I’ll look youthful and radiant forever? Yay! Forever 21 – lol! But this was starting to get out of hand and I just needed something to control the shine. This range also works if you are a teenager starting to care for your skin, experiencing your first spots and breakouts, or someone with oily skin, like me.

The range has a couple of options to choose from, depending on your preference and skin problem.

Products I used:

  • The 3-in-1 Wash, Scrub and Mask: perfect to keep your skin clean, shine-free and feeling smooth.
  • The Dual Action Moisturizer: light moisturizer that also acts to reduce oiliness and shine.
  • The Spot Treatment: Apply to blemishes to soothe redness, dry out spots and help the healing process.

What won me over with this brand is the fact that they use natural plant extracts in their products, so there are no harmful chemicals that could damage your skin. They are also endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty which means that they don’t do any animal testing!

The best part? They use freshly harvested Rooibos leaves from the Western Cape – so this is a local brand that truly understands our African skin and caters specifically for it 🙂
